Pay Cuts for employees at Mohegan Sun casino

9,800 employees of The Mohegan Sun casino are facing the cuts in pay an effort to overcome the financial woes caused by the deep recession in the economy.

This Sunday, the cut in pay was announced as follows: pay of vice presidents and senior management to be cut by 10 percent, middle managers’ payment by 7.5 percent and 4 percent cut in pay for the non management paid and hourly employees by the authority of The Mohegan Tribal Gaming. The pay cuts will come in effect from 1 February, 2009.

In addition to this, it will also affect on the future payment increments. Efforts are on to enhance the effectiveness of the casino complex and to reduce hours in some outlets.

The president and Chief Executive of Mohegan Dun, Mitchell Etess said that due to an unfavorable market situation, the authority had been required to make a number of difficult, but needed, decision to decrease their operating costs.
