Illinois’ casino gambling receipts are down by 18-percent this year

CHICAGO (WLS) -In this revenue year, the Illinois Gambling Industry is blaming the state’s new smoking ban for a big drop. From January through August 2008, Illinois’ casino gambling receipts are down by 18-percent this year, in comparison of 2007.
Similarly, there were 926,000 fewer customers, in the first 8 months in this year, than the last year. The gambling industry admits that the unstable financial system is not helping to the matters. During this period, the state governments get an exemption from the smoking ban has hindered.
