Casino in Biloxi flourishing again

May 30th, 2008

Biloxi, Mississippi- Louisiana Times, Picayune has reported that hurricane Katrina has swung away George Lawrence’s neighborhood with nothing left other than few bricks where once the neat cottages used to be there.
Biloxi’s casino which was built on floating barges was seriously damaged but soon it has been recovered in just 4 months time when the Isle of Capri was opened for business. Though, Lawrence, which is Biloxi’s neighborhood, is still a grassy plain with only few cottages. It is the gaming industry that has changed a sleepy town into the Las Vegas of south. It has been a record break year for Biloxi casino as it has generated more revenue that is 1 billion dollar than the year of 2004 revenue which was 900 million dollars.
Though, many of the residents of Biloxi have philosophic views of the fact of living under the shadow of the casinos, but with the money generated with the gaming industry with around 10,000 jobs generated they do not mind.
